Abstract:
Knowledge is the basis of every action and every decision that is made. Needs assessment is an important step for discovering deficits in the skills and knowledge of employees. Tools for knowledge assessment are not very common in the working environment and researchers continue to call for methods needed for the adoption of these instruments. Newly developed instruments for knowledge assessment can be applied for knowledge-based discrepancy analysis. In this evaluation study we applied a fully automated instrument (MITOCAR) for needs assessment. We evaluated the results to find out how tools like MITOCAR can be applied in practice. Our results show that the instrument can perform discrepancy analysis and that trainers find it to be suitable for their decisions.
